Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking a Mechanical QA Technician to join our renewable energy delivery projects on a FIFO basis across Australia. The role focuses on on-site technical and quality support to project managers, EPCs, and site teams to ensure mechanical installation aligns with drawings, specifications, and contractual quality requirements.

The position starts as a 12-month contract with a strong pathway to permanent employment.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical QA/QC, construction, renewable energy, infrastructure, mining or related industries.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience conducting inspections and identifying construction defects or deviations.
• Experience preparing quality documentation, inspection reports and non-conformance/deviation reports.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with EPC contractors, project managers and site personnel.
• A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to identify issues and provide effective solutions.
• The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with project and engineering teams.
• A willingness to work a 10/4 site-based roster and travel regularly to project locations across Australia.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site mechanical QA and technical support to project managers, EPCs and contractors.
• Conduct approximately 10% site quality inspections/QC activities in line with contractual requirements.
• Identify, document and follow up construction quality issues and deviations.
• Raise Construction Deviation Reports (CDRs) where required and provide to the Project Manager.
• Prepare detailed site visit and swing reports after site attendance.
• Provide technical guidance and training to site personnel where required.
• Support demonstration and build activities to establish best-practice installation methods.
• Attend regular Technical Advisor and project meetings.
• Participate in Construction Kick-Off Meetings, remote and in person.
• Collaborate with field applications and commissioning teams on product installation and site requirements.
• Support project teams with mobilisation, installation and product application requirements.
• Ensure site activities meet quality, safety and project standards.
