Job summary

DOF is seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our Survey & Inspection team on a permanent offshore basis. You will lead survey operations, mentor offshore teams, manage data quality and ensure delivery of high-quality survey data across campaigns.

You will oversee survey systems, coordinate equipment mobilisation, and ensure compliance with client and contractual requirements while maintaining a strong safety culture. Relocation from major Australian cities is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in hydrographic surveying or geomatics, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in offshore survey operations.
• Previous senior or lead surveyor experience.
• Strong understanding of survey and geomatics principles.
• Ability to lead offshore teams and manage priorities.
• Knowledge of IMCA guidelines and industry standards.
• Experience with project and vessel mobilisations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead offshore survey operations and provide technical guidance.
• Coordinate survey equipment mobilisation, testing, and readiness.
• Oversee data acquisition, processing workflows, quality control, and deliverables.
• Ensure activities meet industry standards, procedures, and best practice.
• Monitor and maintain survey equipment performance.
• Support project prep, procedure development, and planning.
• Manage offshore work scopes while ensuring contractual compliance.
• Liaise with clients, vessel management, and ROV teams.
• Ensure accurate reporting, documentation and handovers.
• Champion a strong HSEQ culture and safety commitment.
• Experience with EIVA, HiPAP/LBL, AUV/ROV is advantageous.
