Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding in Perth is seeking an Ocean Freight Import Transport Specialist to manage and oversee transport execution within the Ocean Freight Import Department.

You will act as the primary contact for customers, coordinate sea freight imports, manage cartage providers, and ensure regulatory compliance while delivering high service levels.

The role offers hybrid working options after onboarding and opportunities to grow within a global logistics leader.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Shipping/International freight forwarding industry in airfreight and/or ocean-freight / Import operational roles.
• Knowledge of forwarding business, DHL products (OFR) and business systems (advantageous).
• Ability to identify and meet customer needs in a pleasant and friendly manner.

Responsibilities

• Coordination of Sea Freight import deliveries and dehire.
• Manage cartage providers on a day-to-day basis to adhere to agreed KPIs.
• Consistently meet or exceed key service and quality KPIs.
• Coordination of Carrier payments and delivery order release.
• Act as key contact for customers on agreed delivery requirements and supporting on challenges.
• Monitoring and actioning Customs, AQIS, DAFF requirements.
• Source and quote transport solutions for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring service requirements, delivery expectations and cost objectives are achieved.
• Identify and pursue upselling opportunities, including participating in customer visits to support growth and retention.
• Resolve day-to-day transport operational challenges and continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Overall Job Purpose

We are seeking a proactive, customer focused professional to manage and oversee transport execution. Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, you will ensure seamless service delivery while maintaining strong client relationships.

The Ocean Freight Import Transport Specialist plays a key role in ensuring service commitments are met while driving operational efficiency through effective transport coordination. You will also ensure regulatory compliance and provide a high standard of customer service to support long-term customer satisfaction.

This position centres on ocean freight imports, while providing support for the Customer Operational & Customs Team as required.

• Proactively manage shipments to deliver a high-quality customer experience at every stage.
• Resolve operational issues independently wherever possible, escalating only when required.
• Previous experience in Shipping/International freight forwarding industry in airfreight and/or ocean-freight / Import operational roles
• Good knowledge of forwarding business, DHL products (OFR) and business systems (advantageous)
• CargoWise experience (advantageous)
• Ability to identify and meet customer needs in a pleasant and friendly manner.
