Job summary

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd is seeking an Occupational Therapist to deliver culturally appropriate OT services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants enrolled in the NDIS, across adult and paediatric caseloads. You will be part of a multidisciplinary health team delivering holistic care in clinics and community settings.

Qualifications

• Current Yellow Card – Disability Worker Screening Clearence (Prior to Commencement).
• Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD).
• AHPRA Registration.
• Relevant degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Current First Aid & CPR Certificates (Willingness to obtain).
• Current criminal history check (Willingness to obtain).
• Desirable, but not mandatory: Experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Experience supporting clients with disabilities and/or NDIs.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally appropriate OT services to adults and/or paediatric participants.
• Maintain a diverse caseload across the lifespan with potential specialisation.
• Collaborate within an interprofessional health care team.
• Deliver client-centred OT care in clinics and community settings.
• Contribute to ongoing health service development within the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health framework.

About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region. The Regional and Specialist team includes Integrated Specialist Services, Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, Primary Healthcare Services, Birthing and Early Childhood Services (South), and Child and Youth Services. About the Role?

As Occupational Therapist (NDIS), your role is to provide culturally appropriate adult and/or paediatric OT services to participants of the NDS, as directed to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team.

Opportunity to develop both Adult and Paediatric skills by maintaining a diverse caseload across the lifespan. This includes the opportunity to specialise in adult, paediatric or mixed caseloads.

Work collaboratively within an interprofessional team of health care professionals including: Speech Pathologists, Physios, EPs, Paed Nurses, GPs, AHWs, Paediatricians, and more.

As a collaborative team we work together to provide client-centred care. Work in a variety of settings such as primary health care clinics, kindergartens, and other community settings.
