Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking an Occupational Therapist Level 3 to provide services for Indigenous babies and preschool children in Moruya. You will develop and implement therapy plans with families and coordinate with health, education and NGO partners.

What You'll Be Doing

To provide an Occupational Therapy service to Indigenous babies and preschool aged children with developmental difficulties and their families/carers.

Selection and implementation of intervention strategies to address problem areas identified in assessments in conjunction with families/carers and other relevant service providers.

Consultation and collaboration with relevant health, education and Non-Government Organisation (NGO) staff to support the physical and motor development of children where permission has been given to do so.

The Senior Occupational Therapist will work closely with the other team members of the New Directions team, the Building Strong foundations team, the Early Intervention service and the Aboriginal Maternal Team to ensure well-coordinated service delivery for these families.

Selection Criteria

• Relevant qualifications as an Occupational Therapist and currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated proficient written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge in providing occupational therapy services to babies and preschool aged children, and ability to work with minimal supervision, and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to effectively prioritise and organise own work/caseload across a regional area.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development, quality improvement and evidence based practice.
• Demonstrated ability to lead planning and evaluation of team activities.
• Demonstrated ability to provide and coordinate staff and student supervision.
• Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
