Job summary

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support Aboriginal children aged 0-18 and their families in Alice Springs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess, treat, and manage developmental needs, and help families access NDIS for conditions such as FASD, ASD, and ADHD.

Qualifications

• Full registration as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA.
• At least two years post-graduate experience in relevant settings.
• Experience supporting Aboriginal families and children is preferred.

• Base Salary: $104,539 - $117,058 (p.a.)
• Total Effective Package: $128,394 - $142,605 (p.a.)*

About the role

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing support to Aboriginal children aged 0-18 and their families to optimise their child’s development. The position works within a multidisciplinary team providing seamless assessment, treatment, management, and support to access the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for children with a range of developmental and learning disorders including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

This role is based in Alice Springs, Central Australia.

To be considered for this position, you will require:

• Full registration as an Occupational Therapist as recognised by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA), with a minimum of two years’ post grad experience.
• Knowledge of child development, as well as neurodevelopmental disorders including FASD, ASD and Global Development Disorders.
• Demonstrated experience and skills in providing clinical case management support to vulnerable families with complex issues, that is child focussed, family centred and trauma informed.
• Proven skills in the assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of childhood disabilities including physical, cognitive and emotional development.
• Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, and history and knowledge of factors influencing the health and lives of Aboriginal children and families in Central Australia.
• Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain collaborative working partnerships with external providers.
• Current NT Drivers Licence, or ability to obtain.
