Job description

Occupational Therapist | Darwin, NT

$75,000–$110,000 + Super | Full-Time Permanent | 12 RDOs + Mental Health Days + $1,500 PD Budget

What if you could actually focus on being an OT?This is an opportunity to join a supportive multidisciplinary team in Darwin where staff genuinely come first.

You’ll work across clinic and community settings with a varied caseload of children, adolescents and adults, while having the support around you to actually focus on clinical work.

No chasing invoices. No booking your own appointments. No doing everything yourself.

You’ll have a dedicated admin team, Allied Health Assistant support and access to work vehicles during work hours.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll manage a diverse caseload across disability and NDIS services, with the opportunity to develop your clinical skills across areas including:

  • Functional and capacity assessments
  • Psychosocial assessments
  • Home safety and ADL assessments
  • Equipment and assistive technology prescription
  • Wheelchairs and seating
  • Home modifications
  • Paediatric OT
  • Adult disability
  • Sensory processing
  • Cognitive and perceptual impairments
  • Working with families, schools, carers and support workers
  • NDIS assessments and recommendations
  • Multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary work

The role is a mixture of clinic, home, school and community-based work, with opportunities to work across Darwin, Humpty Doo and Palmerston.

There are also opportunities for regional and remote trips across the NT if that’s something you’d like to get involved in.

What you’ll get: $75,000–$110,000 + super, depending on experience.

And this is where the role really stands out:

  • 12 RDOs per year
  • 5 days study leave
  • $1,500 individual PD budget
  • Quarterly in-house PD training
  • Annual staff retreat days
  • Mental health days separate from annual leave
  • Weekly Friday team lunches
  • 2 team-building events each year
  • EAP counselling
  • Work laptop and mobile
  • Work vehicles available during work hours
  • Allied Health Assistant support
  • Full administration and finance support
  • Opportunities for regional and remote NT work

The support around youThe team has deliberately structured the role so clinicians can be clinicians.

Your admin team handles:

  • Appointment bookings
  • Invoicing
  • Client communication
  • General administration

Allied Health Assistants can also support you with therapy programs, assessments and sessions under your clinical direction.

You’ll still have clinical responsibility and autonomy, but you won’t be expected to do every administrative task that comes with managing a caseload.

The team also takes a sensible approach to NDIS billing, with an expectation of approximately 5–6 billable hours per day.

About youWe’re looking for an Occupational Therapist with:

  • Minimum 12 months’ clinical experience
  • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification
  • Full AHPRA registration
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Experience in private practice and/or NDIS is highly regarded
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Experience across paediatrics, adult disability, psychosocial OT, equipment prescription, home modifications, functional assessments or sensory processing would be highly regarded.

Why Darwin? If you’re ready for something different, Darwin offers the opportunity to build your career while enjoying a very different lifestyle from the southern states.

You’ll have access to a broad and interesting clinical caseload, opportunities to experience regional and remote NT work, and a team that genuinely invests in its people.
