Job summary

Anglicare Southern Queensland is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support community clients in Robina. This permanent part‑time role is 4 days per week, with travel to client homes across the region and an hourly rate of $44.65–$59.07 depending on experience.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing assessment, intervention and adaptations to maximise independence and quality of life for clients, with compliance to Anglicare values.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage referrals and waitlist prioritisation.

• Coordinate home modifications with other agencies.
• Educate clients on energy conservation, safety and falls prevention.

• Plan and review group OT programs for local clients.
• Design and evaluate projects with managers and clients.

About the role

The overall purpose of the Occupational Therapist is to improve or maintain peoples' independent functioning in all aspects of living. Occupational Therapists may assist people who are limited by physical or psychological illness, neurological dysfunction, developmental delay or the ageing process. The practice of Occupational Therapy encompasses evaluation, consultation and treatment. The Occupational Therapist will work in accordance with the values of Anglicare Southern Queensland (Anglicare) and support core business by providing service, guidance and advice within this position’s speciality area.

This role is a permanent part‑time position, 4 days per week. Our office is located in Robina. You will be expected to travel to clients homes within this region. Paying $44.65-$59.07/hour dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage internal and external referrals, which may include implementing a waiting list priority tool.
• Assess clients' functional and ergonomic capacity, limitations and potential.
• Assess clients' cognition and decision‑making capacity with respect to Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Provide Occupational Therapist input that is aimed at improving clients' functional independence and quality of life.
• Recommend, trial and assist to obtain necessary assistive technology (aids and equipment).
• Facilitate appropriate minor and major home modifications, which may involve referral and co‑ordination with other agencies.
• Provide education to clients regarding energy conservation, joint protection, falls prevention, work simplification, stress management and relaxation.
• Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to maximise client outcomes, by attending case conferences as required to advise on client care, assessment results and progress.
• Contribute as required to care plans that address personal ADLs, including manual handling and other workplace health and safety concerns.
• Evaluate and review peer Occupational Therapist recommendations and adjust as appropriate.
• If a need is identified and resources available, plan, coordinate, implement and review group Occupational Therapist programs which are suited to clients' needs within the local community e.g. energy conservation, social support program, relaxation and ADL re‑training.
• In conjunction with the Manager, design, coordinate and evaluate projects in response to identified needs in consultation with clients, carers and the community.
• Ensure all Occupational Therapist services reflect best practice, including evidence‑based practice.

About you

• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and ability to competently assess functional ability of clients in a community setting.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and review collaborative OT services.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a community based multidisciplinary team environment, including the capacity to negotiate with a range of stakeholders, operate flexibly, and have the capacity to problem solve.
• Ability to work autonomously, plan and prioritise work effectively.
• Demonstrated well developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of quality management principles in the clinical setting.

Role Requirements

• Valid Aged Care Worker Screening Check:
  o Current National Police Check OR
  o Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
  NB: NDIS Worker Screening Clearance is mandatory for Services/Facilities delivering
  services to NDIS clients.
  o Statutory Declaration if you have been a citizen or permanent resident of a country
  other than Australia after turning 16.
• Current Drivers Licence with own reliable vehicle
• Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Current registration with AHPRA
• First Aid and CPR Certification
• Membership or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Occupational
  Therapists, Queensland
