Transforming Kids Therapy Services – Blacktown NSW

Transforming Therapy Services opened in 2016 with a mission to create a space and service which provides neuro-affirming and transformative services to clients and their families. We understand development occurs in many ways and within many cultural experiences and seek to provide holistic and family centered occupational therapy, speech pathology and psychotherapy.

As a company we are relationship style and bottom up or inside out based which results in you developing DIR Floor time, Synergetic Play Therapy, Sensory Integration and Neurodevelopmental Therapy skills (just to name a few). As an occupational therapy team we value evidence and research informed practice and provide our OTs in training in the entire picture of development including Gestalt and Analytical development, the variations in assessment and intervention practices across processing styles, as well as up to date assessment and intervention across sensory profiles and to fit functional needs such as motor, praxis or cognition focused interventions. Our Team utilizes a range of High Tech AAC and provides formal training for our team in various forms of AAC to ensure we can assess and prescribe what works best for our client, not what is available. We value being informed and trained in up-to-date models of assessment and intervention.

Our Team is preparing for maternity leave transitions and seeking to add a clinician to the team.

We are looking for a clinician who would like to support a variety of neurodiverse clients using neuro-affirming models.

We have varied position roles available to suit new graduates, early career clinicians and clinician's with experience. All new employees engage with our 100 day success program which includes:

Initial role training to explain all the processes in place to enable smooth running from admin to clinical roles.

Professional development to increase your knowledge on formal and informal assessment and intervention.

Daily check ins

Supervision frequency - depending on your knowledge and level of experience ranging from weekly to fortnightly. Our Seniors receive at minimum of fortnightly to enable their senior to support coaching and development.

Weekly 1.5 hours of professional development time allotted into your calendar.

Early Year and New Clinician Groups. We run 1.5 hour groups per week for new employees and early year clinicians, focusing on core skills and pediatric knowledge to support growth.

As a new employee you will receive training on all aspects of being an OT and complete observations on all roles before starting to complete assessments. You will have an individualised PD Plan and have clients added progressively to your calendar to support you in learning company procedures, frameworks of practice and documentation practices which meet your individualised need. For example an early year clinician will have a slower start to allow added time to integrate clinical skills which a more experienced OT would most likely already have.

Transforming Kids has a wealth of knowledge from:

Sensory Integration and the neurobiology of integration

Dynamic movement systems and how cognition enables coordination

Oculomotor assessment and integrating the visual processing systems

Developing executive functioning and enabling active regulation of functional capacities.

Conquering toileting, feeding, sleeping

Develop self management of self care and increasing a client's capacity to manage their daily routine.

Our Clinical space is diverse. From large sensory motor rooms, to a full accessible kitchen, media/library room, art room and basketball court, you have all the equipment and space needed to enable engaging and intrinsically motivating sessions. We have caseload variability as our clinic is custom built to support all ages and all neurotypes. We are an engaging practice who does not use compliance forms of therapy. We are neuro-affirming and function focused.

The roles available are both full time and part time and can be customized to a 4 day week but we need the ideal candidate to work until 6 or 7pm in order to enable afterschool timeslots.

We use a billables model and billables depend on your level of experience. They can range from 4.4 per day to 5.5 BUT to support time management and these being doable we manage your day with specific times for service preparation, clean up, documentation such as reports and support plans and clinical notes. We have found extensive PD, Supervision and an organised calendar makes KPI's do-able. You are also trained in all documentation to enable these to be effectively completed.

As a human, we also seek to support you on your journey of development. Our Team understands development is bumpy and self reflection can be emotionally activating. We stay away from ‘shoulds' and provide endless support through seniors coming into sessions with you, 1:1 and small group training. As a team we have lunch time tournaments from netball, basketball, handball or soccer and do team lunch orders and coffee runs. We also love escape rooms, lawn bowls and laser tag.
