Job summary

SPOT Paediatrics, based in Hove and serving the southern Adelaide area, seeks a neuro-affirming Occupational Therapist to support children and families. The role involves clinic and community work, joint sessions with speech therapists, and preschool therapy in long daycare centres under the Flying Start Initiative.

You will work with a supportive team, engage in diverse work, and maintain 9am–5pm hours with opportunities for early finishes. A focus on development and caregiver coaching is key.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years paediatric occupational therapy experience preferred.
• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor or Masters Degree) and OTA/AHPRA membership.
• Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Check are required.
• Current driver's license and First Aid Certification.
• Australian permanent residency status required.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapy for children and coach caregivers in areas like regulation, self-care, mealtimes, and sensory processing.
• Collaborate with speech pathologists for joint sessions and liaise with external providers to support children and families.
• Contribute to program development and delivery of evidence-informed supports in childcare centres.
• Complete documentation in a timely manner (notes, reports, NDIA/NDIS documentation).
• Participate in regular team meetings and professional development sessions.

SPOT Paediatrics is a passionate team of speech pathologists and occupational therapists based in Hove and operates throughout the southern area of Adelaide. We are a close-knit team that support one another in our professional roles. We are on the lookout for a neuro-affirming Occupational Therapist looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and their families.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate clinician who has a passion for working with children and families and sharing skill and expertise with our community; and is committed to implementing neuro-affirming practices and best practice in Early Intervention. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in diverse work, including individual and group therapy, joint therapy sessions with speech pathologists, and occupational therapy support for 3 and 4 year old preschoolers in long daycare centres under the Flying Start Initiative. The role will involve a mix of community and clinic based work as we grow our preschool and therapy supports in the early years in our local community.

A Typical Day May Include but Not Limited To

• Providing therapy for children alongside support and coaching for caregivers in areas such as regulation, toileting, motor skill development, mealtimes, self-care, sensory processing and integration, and executive functioning
• Contributing to OT program development and delivery of evidence-informed supports in childcare centres
• Collaborating with speech pathologists for joint therapy sessions and shared clients, and liaising with external providers and professionals to work collaboratively to support children and families
• Completing documentation in a timely manner (notes, reports, letters, NDIS documentation)
• Participating in regular team meetings and professional development sessions

Our New Team Member Will Have

• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• A commitment to self-leadership and continuous learning
• 1-2 years paediatric occupational therapy experience preferred
• Strong organisation skills and self-leadership skills to sustain a full caseload made up of pre-school boost supports and direct client supports
• Experience providing neuro-affirming mealtime supports (preferred or willingness to learn)
• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor or Masters Degree)
• OTA/AHPRA membership
• Current Working with Children Check
• Current NDIS Worker Check
• Current driver's license
• Current First Aid Certification
• Australian permanent residency status required
