Job summary

RATP Dev in Melbourne seeks an experienced O&M Engineering Interface Manager to assess operational and maintenance impacts of all technical changes within the Alliance. Reporting to the Technical Director, you will coordinate reviews with SMEs to ensure interfaces are covered and O&M impacts are evaluated from technical, cost and safety perspectives.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in rail, infrastructure or complex engineering environments.
  • Experience assessing technical, operational and commercial impacts of engineering changes.
  • Strong understanding of railway systems, preferably metro, signalling or GoA4/ATO.
  • Proven ability to lead or support design reviews, systems integration and interface management.

  • Act as the primary O&M focal point for engineering changes and interface management.
  • Lead and coordinate O&M reviews of change proposals with SME inputs.
  • Assess operational, maintenance and lifecycle impacts of proposed changes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, asset management and estimating teams on scope, risks and costs.
  • Review design packages for operability, maintainability and whole‑of‑life objectives.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to identify and resolve integration gaps, risks and delivery issues.
  • Ensure engineering decisions align with maintenance strategies and asset plans.

Within this alliance, RATP Dev has partnered with John Holland in a dedicated Joint Venture called TransitLinX. Our joint venture will focus entirely on the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) component of this project.

About The Role

The O&M Engineering Interface Manager will be the main point of contact for assessing the operational and maintenance impacts of all technical changes presented by the Alliance. Reporting to the Technical Director, you will coordinate the review of these changes with Subject Matter Experts, ensuring all interfaces are covered and O&M impacts are properly assessed from a technical, cost, and safety perspective. This role requires a strong engineering and rail maintenance background to support the integration and delivery of a world-class automated metro system.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities May Include
  • Acting as the primary O&M focal point for all engineering changes, including design modifications, value engineering initiatives, and technical departures.
  • Leading and coordinating O&M reviews of change proposals, ensuring the consistency and quality of SME inputs.
  • Assessing the operational, maintenance, and lifecycle impacts of proposed changes to develop the O&M position.
  • Collaborating with engineering, asset management, and estimating teams to evaluate technical scope, risks, and cost implications.
  • Reviewing design packages to ensure operability, maintainability, and whole-of-life objectives are met.
  • Liaising with project stakeholders to identify and resolve integration gaps, risks, and delivery issues.
  • Ensuring engineering decisions align with maintenance strategies, asset plans, and long-term performance objectives.
About You

You are an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in rail and a proven ability to manage technical interfaces within a complex project environment. You excel at assessing the whole-of-life impacts of engineering decisions and can effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to drive optimal outcomes.

Key Experience And Attributes Include
  • Master's degree in an applicable engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in rail, infrastructure, or complex engineering environments, with significant exposure to operations, maintenance, or asset lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing and managing the technical, operational, and commercial impacts of engineering changes.
  • Strong understanding of railway systems, preferably within a metro, signalling, or integrated GoA4/ATO environment.
  • Proven ability to lead or support design reviews, systems integration, and interface management activities.
  • Experience developing estimates for railway operations, maintenance, and lifecycle costs is highly desirable.
