Job summary

Calvary Riverina Private Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager (Level 2) to lead our combined palliative care and rehabilitation ward, including outpatient rehabilitation services. The role is full-time, across business hours Monday to Friday, reporting to the Director of Clinical Services.

Key duties include clinical leadership, staff management, rostering, payroll and budget oversight, and driving quality improvement, safety and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in nursing or equivalent
• Current registration with AHPRA
• Experience in public and/or private acute healthcare
• Experience leading interdisciplinary teams
• Understanding of quality improvements and accreditation standards
• Experience in rehabilitation and/or palliative care is desirable
• Experience managing KPIs within budget
• Experience in change management and fostering a positive culture

About the role

Calvary Riverina has the exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager (Level 2) to join our clinical leadership team as manager of our combined palliative care and rehabilitation ward, including our outpatient rehabilitation service. This is a full time position working across business hours Monday to Friday.

Your main duties will include:

• Clinical leadership and patient care oversight, ensuring safe, high quality nursing care while setting clinical standards and supervising nursing practice
• Staff management and workforce planning including rostering, recruitment, performance management, education and ensuring appropriate skill mix
• Management of ward flow (admissions, discharges, bed allocation), oversight of resources and budgets, and drive quality improvement, compliance and patient safety initiatives

About you

• Relevant tertiary nursing qualifications
• Current AHPRA registration
• Current Working with Children Check
• A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in public and/or private acute healthcare sector
• Proven experience as senior clinical leader level including leadership of diverse interdisciplinary teams
• Demonstrated understanding of quality improvements and accreditation standards
• Demonstrated understanding of contemporary rehabilitation practice and programs and/or palliative care is desirable
• Proven experience managing key performance indicators within budget
• Experience in change management, facilitating a positive workplace culture and workforce engagement
