Job summary

NSW Health's Northern Beaches Hospital invites an experienced Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 (NUM2) – Staffing to lead the nursing staffing office and casual workforce. You will oversee recruitment, allocation and performance, partnering with nursing leaders and agencies to meet patient care needs with effective staffing solutions.

You will guide strategic workforce planning, manage staffing challenges, and support ongoing education, governance and quality improvement across the unit.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration.
• Recent management experience in an acute healthcare setting.
• Management qualification or progress towards these.
• Demonstrated financial and human resource management skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated nursing leadership capability.
• Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement.
• Experience in staff selection and recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the casual nursing pool, including recruitment and education.
• Monitor casual nursing workforce supply and demand to optimise resources.
• Oversee daily allocation of casual and agency staff with Staffing Officers.
• Coordinate recruitment and strategies to attract casual nurses.
• Participate in strategic workforce planning and reporting.
• Provide leadership to Staffing Officer positions.
• Liaise with nursing agencies regarding performance and contracts.
• Provide timely advice on staffing challenges and improvements.
• Support staff education and quality improvement activities.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and statutory requirements.
