Job summary

Rural Northwest Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager to lead the Acute and Urgent Care department at the Warracknabeal campus on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will oversee day-to-day clinical operations and monitor performance of the acute and urgent care team.

The successful candidate will hold post-graduate nursing qualifications, leadership education, and be registered with AHPRA, with a focus on safe, patient-centered care and quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate training or education in aged care, acute medical or emergency nursing
  • Post-graduate education in leadership and management or plans to undertake
  • Demonstrated leadership of a team to deliver safe, consumer-centered care
  • Knowledge of Safe Patient Care Act, Code Grey, and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
  • Commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Nurse Unit Manager to lead the Acute and Urgent Care department at Rural Northwest Health’s Warracknabeal campus on a 12-month fixed-term contract role. The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of clinical care, and performance monitoring of the acute and urgent care team members.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Relevant post-graduate training or education in aged care, acute medical or emergency nursing
  • Relevant post-graduate education in leadership and management, or plans to undertake
  • Demonstrated competence in leading and managing a team to deliver services that ensures safe, consumer-centered care
  • Knowledge of key guidelines and frameworks relevant to the role including, but not limited to, Safe
  • Patient Care Act, Code Grey requirements, and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage rosters and workforce needs
  • Adaptability to competing demands
  • Current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
  • Current AHPRA registration
