ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) role is to provide management of Acute and Residential Staff and Services. To provide effective leadership and management of the nursing unit by fostering a supportive and collaborative team environment, ensuring safe and high-quality patient care, and maintaining compliance with clinical standards and organisational policies. The Nurse Unit Manager will be responsible for coordinating staff, resources, and workflows to achieve optimal patient outcomes, while promoting professional development, continuous improvement, and a positive workplace culture.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency as a Registered Nurse (Essential)
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring policies and objectives of nursing care as they apply to units, staff and community groups (Essential)
  • Coordinating the allocation of human and material resources for a health service unit such as recruitment of staff, human resource management, preparation of budgets and fiscal management (Essential)
  • Monitoring and controlling the performance of nursing and support staff within the unit, and providing leadership (Essential)
  • Initiating studies to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing services in the unit in relation to objectives, costs and nursing care (Essential)
  • Promoting working relationships with community agencies and health and education providers (Essential)
  • Contributing to organisational objectives in relation to quality, safety and risk management (Essential)
