Hunter New England Local Health District invites applications for a Nurse Practitioner to deliver comprehensive virtual mental health care to rural and remote ED populations.

The role includes advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and referrals, with a strong emphasis on person-centred care, quality improvement, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. 38 hours per week, temporary until December 2027, salary range $158,236.73–$169,429.03 plus 12% super.

As a Nurse Practitioner you will provide comprehensive virtual mental health care, including assessment, treatment, treatment planning, and referral services, specifically targeting individuals presenting to rural and remote Emergency Departments in Moree, Glen Innes, Narrabri, and Inverell (New England North-West Service).

You’ll provide advanced assessment, diagnosis and treatment across primary care, using your clinical judgement to support patients with a range of health needs and achieve positive outcomes.

Working alongside patients, families and a multidisciplinary team, you’ll:

• Contribute to quality improvement and service development.
• Use research and evidence to strengthen clinical practice.

About You

You’re an experienced Nurse Practitioner who brings advanced clinical knowledge, sound judgement and a strong commitment to person-centred care.

You’ll Bring

• Current AHPRA registration and Nurse Practitioner endorsement, or substantial progress towards endorsement.
• 3+ years’ advanced practice experience in your area of practice.
• Strong primary care assessment, diagnosis and treatment skills.
• Excellent clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse communities.
