Job summary

The Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner for the Gladstone Hospital Emergency Department. You will assess, diagnose, and treat Fast Track patients (categories 3–5), prescribe medications, and ensure timely, appropriate care with a skilled multidisciplinary team.

You will lead clinically with autonomy, support education and research, and help drive service improvement in a busy public ED serving the Gladstone community.

Qualifications

• AHPRA-registered nurse with a Master's-level Nurse Practitioner qualification and NMBA endorsement.
• Emergency readiness with advanced clinical skills and ability to coordinate care across disciplines.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

About us

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service – Gladstone QLD

The Gladstone Emergency Department is a busy, 24-hour public emergency service caring for our local community when they need us most.

We provide everything from initial treatment and definitive care to emergency resuscitation and stabilisation, supporting patients who need admission or transfer to a tertiary centre.

Our team looks after a community of around 62,660 people, with approximately 35,000 patients presenting each year — and one in four are children. That means every day brings new challenges, plenty of teamwork and lots of opportunities to make a real difference!

About the role

As a Nurse Practitioner at Gladstone Hospital, you'll bring your advanced clinical expertise, autonomy and leadership to a busy Emergency Department where every day brings new opportunities to make a difference.

You'll assess, diagnose and treat Fast Track patients (categories 3–5), using advanced clinical assessment skills to develop and adapt treatment plans, prescribe and supply medications, and ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.

Working closely with the medical and multidisciplinary teams, you'll be both a clinical leader and role model, sharing your expertise, supporting your colleagues and helping deliver safe, responsive and high-quality emergency care.

About you

• Qualified and credentialed. You're an AHPRA-registered nurse with a Master's-level Nurse Practitionerqualification and NMBA endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Emergency ready. You bring advanced clinical skills and confidence in coordinating care, making clinical decisions and managing patients within your specialty. Postgraduate Emergency Nursing qualifications are highly desirable.
• A team player. You communicate confidently, collaborate across disciplines and help deliver great outcomes for patients and the wider team.
• A future-focused leader. You're passionate about growing the Nurse Practitioner role, using evidence-based practice and contributing to education, research and service improvement.

What we offer

Tota monthly remuneration value of up to $15,719 p.m. is comprised of:

• An hourly rate between $79.85 - $83.37 p.h.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
• 17.5% leave loading
