Job summary

Queensland Government/ Rockhampton Hospital Emergency Department is seeking a Nurse Practitioner Candidate to advance autonomous practice within a 24/7 adult and paediatric ED in Central Queensland. You will gain expert clinical skills, earn mentorship, and contribute to teaching, research and quality improvement as you progress toward NP endorsement.

Role involves working across the ED with a focus on leadership and patient care excellence, plus involvement in the expanding NP-led Fast Track

Qualifications

  • AHPRA-registered nurse
  • 4+ years of advanced nursing practice in ED
  • Postgraduate qualification in Emergency or Acute Care

Responsibilities

  • Provide care across the Emergency Department with increasing autonomy as a Nurse Practitioner

About us:The Rockhampton Hospital Emergency Department is a 24/7 adult and paediatric ED and the major referral centre for Central and Central West Queensland.With 14 acute treatment areas, 3 resuscitation bays, Fast Track and a 12-bed Short Stay Unit, there's plenty of variety and plenty of opportunity to make a difference. We see around 145 patients every day, from everyday emergencies to complex trauma and critically unwell patients.As the region's major referral centre, we work closely with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and care for patients from diverse communities across Central Queensland.Our team is backed by 24/7 Radiology and Pathology, as well as experienced medical and nursing staffAbout the role:Take your nursing career to the next level. As a Nurse Practitioner Candidate, you'll build the expert knowledge, clinical skills and confidence needed for autonomous Nurse Practitioner practice.Every shift brings something different. You'll work across the Emergency Department, caring for patients with a wide range of presentations, acuity and complexity.You won't do it alone. Enjoy structured mentorship, supervision and professional support as you develop your advanced clinical, leadership and decision-making skills.Help shape the future of emergency care.
