Job summary

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Registered Nurse to join an Interhospital Transfer Nurse Co-Responder team based in Cairns. You will work in a two-member crew with a paramedic, continuing care during interhospital transfers across rural and metropolitan destinations while maintaining clinical oversight.

You will provide safe clinical care during transport, monitor patient stability, respond to deteriorations, and ensure accurate handovers with sending and receiving

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective clinical care during patient transport, ensuring all care is delivered within scope of practice and clinical protocols.
• Assess, monitor and manage patient stability throughout transfer, including vital signs, oxygen therapy, IV infusions and other supportive treatments.
• Respond promptly to any clinical deterioration during transport and implement appropriate interventions to maintain patient safety.
• Maintain accurate documentation and deliver comprehensive handovers to sending and receiving teams to ensure continuity of care.
