The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service within Queensland Health is seeking a dedicated nurse to join the Nursing and Midwifery Staffing Unit. You will contribute to backfilling emergent leave and roster deficits across Cairns Hospital, Gordonvale Hospital and outlier wards, ensuring safe staffing and skilled, trained teams.
You will work with the healthcare team to support safe patient care, apply relevant nursing guidelines and contribute to incident investigations and quality

The Nursing and Midwifery Staffing Unit assists multiple facilities to backfill emergent leave and roster deficits through permanent and casual employees, to ensure our we are always safely and appropriately staffed.
The Nursing and Midwifery Staffing Unit (NMSU), assists Cairns Hospital, Gordonvale Hospital and any outlier wards (e.g. Oregon Street) to backfill emergent leave and roster deficits, by employing and managing permanent and casual employees.
We function with the philosophy of ensuring the hospital is staffed safely, with the correct number of registered and unregistered nursing staff, as well as ensuring that these employees also have the correct skills and training to support the hospital.
It is the expectation that permanent and temporary staff can independently attend any location that they are rostered to which may include Cairns Hospital, Gordonvale Hospital and any outlier wards (e.g. Oregon Street).
