KBR, Inc. is seeking experienced Nuclear Safety Case Engineers to join a significant engineering programme critical to Australia's national defence. This role involves leading nuclear safety cases for naval nuclear infrastructure and engaging directly with government and defence stakeholders. Candidates with a background in regulated, high-hazard industries are encouraged to apply.
We offer structured development, competitive salaries, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities for career advancement. Join KBR and help shape Australia’s nuclear capability.
KBR’s Infrastructure Solutions business employs over 1,400 people across Australia. Our strong project delivery record, industry reputation and trusted partnerships have driven significant growth, creating outstanding career development and project opportunities for our people.
We’re known for our collaborative “One Team” culture and our commitment to working closely with clients and construction partners to achieve exceptional results. Our open, inclusive environment ensures people are valued, supported and able to thrive. By joining KBR, you become part of a team that works together, shares common values and is united in delivering great outcomes.
This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of one of the most strategically significant engineering programmes in Australia's history.
KBR Infrastructure Solutions Australia, in partnership with Frazer-Nash Consultancy, is seeking experienced Nuclear Safety Case Engineers to join Australia's largest industry team of Nuclear Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (NSQEP). This is not routine infrastructure work — it is nation-building engineering of the highest order.
Under AUKUS Pillar 1, Australia is on a defined path to acquiring and operating a fleet of conventionally armed, Nuclear-Powered Submarines (NPS). Delivering that capability safely and on schedule demands world-class nuclear safety expertise — and that is precisely what our team provides.
You will work directly alongside government and defence stakeholders to deliver nuclear safety informed design processes for naval nuclear facilities and infrastructure across Australia. The work is technically demanding, nationally critical, and professionally rewarding in equal measure.
Our team has been intentionally built and now represents the deepest concentration of nuclear safety expertise in Australian industry. You would be joining — and shaping — that capability at a defining moment in its growth.
Structured development. We have invested in building genuine internal training and mentoring capability. If you come from a high-hazard regulated industry — oil and gas, conventional defence, aviation, or similar — and are seeking a transition into the nuclear domain, we have the infrastructure to support that pathway. We are actively seeking candidates with that profile.
Scale and variety. With projects spanning Canberra, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane, we offer geographic flexibility while maintaining access to a nationally connected, highly experienced team.
Significance. Few engineering roles offer the combination of technical rigour, regulatory complexity, and strategic national importance that this programme demands. Your work will directly enable Australia's sovereign nuclear submarine capability.
If your career has been spent in a regulated, high-hazard environment — and you have the analytical rigour, safety discipline, and professional credibility that entails — we want to hear from you. Nuclear safety expertise is built, not simply recruited. We have the capability to develop the right people, and we actively encourage applications from those ready to make that transition.
At KBR, we value you – here’s how.
While our people are busy delivering leading science, technology, and engineering solutions, we’re committed to providing them with a supportive, trusting environment and benefits that enable them to thrive and continue doing what they do best.
Help shape tomorrow by applying today!
Our people are the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to creating work environments in which every member of our team of teams feels safe, supported, respected, trusted and valued, and where each person is given opportunities to belong, connect and grow.
