Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC Geelong is seeking a dedicated Youth Justice Worker for night shifts at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct. The role involves supervising and supporting young people on remand or serving sentences in custody, on a full-time basis.

Key duties include CCTV monitoring, incident response, creating a safe environment, and coordinating with health, education and disability services to support residents.

Qualifications

• Must be Australian citizen, permanent resident, or NZ citizen eligible to work in Australia.
• Must pass health and fitness assessment.
• Driver licence desirable but not mandatory.
• Experience working with children/young people in custodial environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

• CCTV monitoring, compliance reporting, responding to alarms and perimeter searches.
• Create a safe and secure environment for staff and young people.
• Working directly with young people in a custodial environment with regular observation.
• Redirecting anti-social and challenging behaviour.
• Responding to incidents as they occur.
• Facilitating support from health, mental health, educators and disability services.
