Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC – Malmsbury VIC is seeking a dedicated Youth Justice Worker (Nights) for a permanent, full-time position. You will supervise and support young people overnight, helping maintain safety and a constructive custodial environment.

The role offers on-site support, a base salary up to 99,645 AUD per year with a 62,104 AUD base, plus relocation assistance up to 10,000 AUD and a fully paid training period of eight weeks.

Qualifications

• Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required, with valid work rights in Australia.
• Willingness to work night shifts in a custodial environment.
• Ability to work with young people and collaborate with health, education and disability services.

Responsibilities

• maintaining the safety and security of our facility
• CCTV monitoring, compliance reporting, responding to alarms and perimeter searches
• creating a safe and secure environment for both staff and young people
• working directly with children and young people in a custodial environment, including regular observation
• redirecting anti-social and challenging behaviour
• responding to incidents as they occur
• helping young people develop positive relationships
• facilitating support from other services, including health and mental health providers, educators and disability organisations
