Job summary

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District invites applications for the Mental Health Social Work New Graduate Program at the Nepean Mental Health Centre. This temporary full-time role runs for 24 months, with a structured rotation across inpatient and community settings to build broad clinical skills.

Expect supervision, multidisciplinary collaboration, and exposure to assessment, intervention and recovery‑oriented practice.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
• Be a new graduate within 12 months of graduation from a Social Work program at the time of application.
• Knowledge of the social work role in the health system.
• Sound verbal and written communication skills.
• Capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated capacity for self-reflection and linking theory to practice.

Responsibilities

• Two twelve-month rotations across inpatient and community mental health settings.
• Work alongside experienced clinicians in inpatient rotations to support consumers during intensive treatment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support recovery goals and wellbeing in the community.
