Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in IT/CS/Cyber Security or related discipline completed or near completion.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with good communication and teamwork.
• Basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and cloud platforms knowledge.
• Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux and Microsoft 365 environments recommended.
• Exposure to Azure, AWS or Google Cloud helpful; scripting skills in PowerShell, Python or Bash advantageous.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, AZ-900, AWS Practitioner are valued but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement basic network solutions and security controls.
• Assist with cloud infrastructure tasks on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Support Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Contribute to security monitoring, vulnerability assessments and incident response.
• Document networks and create runbooks for operations teams.
• Assist with IAM, backups, disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Participate in training and practical projects to gain real industry experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain 12 months of paid Australian industry experience while working alongside experienced IT infrastructure and cyber security professionals. You’ll develop practical skills in networking, cloud technologies, cyber security, systems administration and IT support while contributing to real business projects.
Whether your goal is to become a Network Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Cyber Security Analyst, Systems Administrator, Cloud Support Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Security Consultant, SOC Analyst, or DevSecOps Engineer, this internship will provide the practical experience employers are looking for.
Key Responsibilities
As a Network, Cloud & Cyber Security Graduate Intern, you may assist with:

• Installing, configuring and maintaining network infrastructure
• Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting connectivity issues
• Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows Server and Active Directory environments
• Assisting with cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform
• Monitoring cyber security alerts and responding to security incidents
• Performing vulnerability assessments and security audits
• Implementing endpoint protection, firewalls and access controls
• Assisting with identity and access management (IAM)
• Supporting backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
• Maintaining IT documentation, network diagrams and asset registers
• Assisting with security awareness training and compliance activities
• Automating routine IT administration tasks using scripting and AI-powered tools

Eligibility
Applicants should have:

• A bachelor’s or master's degree (completed or nearing completion) in:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
• Understanding of Windows Server, Linux or Microsoft 365 environments
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud will be advantageous
• Knowledge of cyber security principles, firewalls, SIEM, endpoint security or penetration testing is desirable
• Familiarity with PowerShell, Python or Bash scripting will be advantageous
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), AWS Cloud Practitioner or Cisco CCNA are highly regarded but not essential

Internship Facilitation Fee

This opportunity is offered through STUDY AND WORK’s Paid Professional Internship Program.

Upon successfully securing the internship, participants are required to pay an Internship Facilitation Fee equivalent to 10% of the annual salary package.
To make the program affordable, the fee is payable in monthly instalments of $1,100, commencing after you start your internship.
The facilitation fee covers:

• Resume and interview support
• Internship administration and onboarding
• Training plan and program management

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
You could be provided work experience in the following areas:

• Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
• Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
• Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
• Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximise network efficiency and security
• Maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
• Arranging scheduled upgrades
• Investigating faults in the network
• Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
• Reporting network status to key stakeholders
