Job description

Role type: Solution Architect with project management responsibility

Contract Duration: Approx 12 months

Start: As soon as possible

Preference to candidates based in Melbourne.

Must be legally allowed to work in Australia, unfortunately no sponsorship will be offered for this role.

The Solution Architect and Project Lead owns the end-to-end design for the business systems landscape. This is a hybrid role: it sets the target architecture across NetSuite, Salesforce, SharePoint and connected platforms, then takes responsibility for running the project that delivers it. The role holder is the single point of accountability between the business, the delivery team and third-party vendors, making sure that what gets built is technically sound, fit for purpose and delivered on time and within budget.

The client operates through a retail and franchise network, the role also needs to understand how head office, company-owned stores and franchisees interact, and design solutions that work for each of them. This is not a purely advisory position: the role holder is expected to be hands-on where required, stepping into configuration, build, data and testing work to keep delivery moving.

Key responsibilities

  • Understand the current state and target-state architecture across ERP, collaboration, CRM, and integration layers.
  • Lead solution design for NetSuite and Salesforce, including record structures, subsidiaries, workflows, saved searches, roles and permissions.
  • Design the SharePoint information architecture for document management, intranet and franchisee collaboration.
  • Define integration patterns between NetSuite, SharePoint, Salesforce (where in scope), point-of-sale, eCommerce and other line-of-business systems.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical designs, and own key design decisions and the architecture decision log.
  • Set and enforce standards for data quality, security, access and reporting.
  • Assess build-versus-configure-versus-buy options and advise on fit with the existing landscape.

Project management

  • Plan and run the project end to end: scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Run delivery using a pragmatic hybrid approach, combining structured phase gates with iterative build and test cycles.
  • Lead workshops, sprint ceremonies, status reporting and steering committee updates.
  • Manage scope and change control, including impact assessments on cost, timeline and architecture.
  • Coordinate internal staff, Wild Tech consultants and third-party vendors, holding each to agreed deliverables.
  • Plan and oversee data migration, testing (system, integration and user acceptance), cutover and hypercare.
  • Drive change management and training so that head office, stores and franchisees adopt the new solution.

Stakeholder and business engagement

  • Act as the trusted adviser to our clients' leadership on technology direction and delivery.
  • Engage store operations, finance, merchandising and franchise teams to understand processes and pain points.
  • Communicate complex technical matters in plain business language.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Lead on business systems implementations.
  • Demonstrated project management capability, having led projects through full lifecycle delivery with accountability for budget, timeline and outcomes.
  • Ability and willingness to be hands-on where required, including configuring NetSuite and SharePoint, building reports and workflows, preparing data and supporting testing.
  • Hands-on knowledge of NetSuite, including configuration, customisation (SuiteFlow and SuiteScript awareness) and integration.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and the wider Microsoft 365 platform, including information architecture, permissions and collaboration design.
  • Experience designing integrations between cloud platforms (APIs, middleware or iPaaS).
  • Strong requirements gathering, process mapping and solution documentation skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at executive and operational levels.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud or Marketing Cloud) and its integration with ERP.
  • Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or an Agile qualification desirable.
  • Experience working with retailers, including multi-store operations, inventory, point-of-sale, and eCommerce.
  • Experience in franchise environments, including franchisee onboarding, franchise reporting, royalties and fee management, and franchisee portals or collaboration.
  • Understanding of multi-entity financial structures and intercompany processes.

Personal attributes

  • Takes ownership and sees delivery through to a working outcome.
  • Willing to roll up their sleeves and be hands-on where required, rather than only directing others.
  • Commercially minded, balancing ideal design against cost, time and business priority.
  • Calm and structured under pressure, with sound judgement on risk.
  • Collaborative and able to lead a blended team of client, partner and vendor staff.

Key outcomes and success measures

A documented, approved target architecture and integration design in place early in the project

Delivery

Project milestones delivered on schedule and within the approved budget

Quality

Solution passes user acceptance testing with no critical defects at go-live

Adoption

Head office, store and franchisee users trained and actively using the new solution

Governance

Regular, transparent reporting to the steering committee with risks and changes actively managed
