Job summary

Metro North Hospital & Health Service is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Special Care Nursery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital to deliver contemporary, evidence-based, family-centred neonatal care.

You will work within an interprofessional healthcare team, applying assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, responding to changes in newborn conditions, and supporting families throughout their healthcare journey.

Qualifications

• Evidence-based nursing care for newborns in the Special Care Nursery.
• Advanced clinical assessment and newborn monitoring.
• Education and support to parents and families.
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams for safe, coordinated care.
• Participation in education, policy implementation and quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Recognise and respond to changes in a newborn's condition using advanced assessment and intervention skills.
• Provide education and support to parents and families, promoting confidence and participation in infant care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, coordinated care delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through education and quality initiatives.
