Job summary

HII's Mission Technologies division in Queensland, Australia, is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to support Navy Training Baseline products (JSAF, JBUS, RAVE, ERM, MDS, NEXUS, JMAC, CS3, ATD) within the NCTE Software Engineering team. You will design, implement, test, and sustain modeling and simulation systems that enable Live, Virtual, and Constructive fleet training across distributed architectures.

Summary

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Software Engineer 3 support software development across the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) product line, including JSAF, JBUS, RAVE, ERM, MDS, NEXUS, JMAC, CS3, and ATD. As part of the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Software Engineering team, this engineer contributes to the design, implementation, testing, and sustainment of modeling and simulation systems that enable Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) Fleet training. This position is eligible for hybrid work.
This role involves developing and maintaining robust, scalable software; integrating simulation systems across distributed architectures; and collaborating with developers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts to meet Navy training objectives. The Software Engineer 3 works under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions that contribute to successful project and program execution.

• Strong understanding and broad application of software engineering principles, concepts, and best practices.
• Proficiency in Java development, object-oriented design, and debugging within Linux environments.
• Experience developing multithreaded applications and working with Java-focused IDEs such as IntelliJ or Eclipse.
• Working knowledge of Git for version control and software configuration management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative team environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
