Provides direction and expertise on the implementation of cost-effective systems required by the company. Develops and ensures implementation of policies and procedures covering rate negotiation and purchase of transportation, freight bill auditing and overcharge claims, fleet management, and optimum traffic routes. Identifies and analyzes transportation costs, equipment availability, and service levels, making recommendations as required to improve the effectiveness of transportation programs. Ensures that unit is in compliance with tariff rules, I.C.C. regulations, and federal and state transportation laws. Leads a team of direct reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Take ownership of our national transport operations, ensuring smooth coordination and efficiency across branches. Your expertise will drive performance improvements and enhance our overall operational effectiveness.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Possess a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape governing transport operations. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with regulations such as the chain of responsibility and NHV regulations, mitigating risks and ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Process Optimisation: Use your experience to identify areas for improvement within our processes and workflows. Implement strategies to optimise fleet usage, reduce costs, and streamline operations, ultimately enhancing our competitiveness in the market.
  • Fleet Management: Leverage your knowledge of trucks and fleet optimisation to manage our vehicle resources effectively. You'll be responsible for ensuring that our fleet meets operational demands while minimising downtime and maximising efficiency.
  • Independent Action: Operate autonomously within the role, using your initiative and problem-solving skills to drive results without the need for direct supervision.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in managing national transport operations, with a track record of success in optimising operational efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in the transport industry, with the ability to ensure compliance and mitigate risks effectively.
