Job summary

News Corp Australia is seeking an experienced National Newsroom Innovation Product Manager to drive our editorial R&D agenda, leading discovery, rapid prototyping, and de-risking of AI solutions across the country’s largest newsrooms.

You will guide prototypes into live newsroom adoption, manage the Innovation squad, and set standards for ethical, scalable AI tooling with a focus on journalistic integrity and enterprise reliability.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in product management leading 0-to-1 innovation or R&D initiatives in media/digital publishing.
• Strong understanding of generative AI, LLMs, tuning, and prompt evaluation.
• Experience guiding prototypes to production in fast-moving editorial environments.

Responsibilities

• Translate editorial challenges into a prioritized R&D roadmap (8-week cycles and fiscal year).
• Lead end-to-end innovation lifecycle with agile prototyping and business-case validation.
• Own model accuracy, hallucination management, and output safety across prototypes.
• Oversee handovers of production-ready prototypes into BAU maintenance and scaling.
• Produce technical charters, evaluation frameworks, and product briefs to align with national heads and partners.
• Remove blockers to deliver high-velocity, enterprise-grade newsroom solutions.
• Define R&D metrics and KPIs for prototype velocity and business value.
