Job summary

News Corp Australia is seeking an experienced, visionary National Newsroom Innovation Product Manager to drive our editorial R&D agenda and lead groundbreaking AI tooling across the country’s largest newsrooms.

Based in Australia with hybrid work from major offices, you will manage end-to-end discovery, prototyping and handovers of production-ready AI prototypes, partnering with editorial and technology leaders to uphold journalistic integrity and scalable impact.

Qualifications

• Experience leading 0→1 innovation in media or fast-moving tech.
• Solid understanding of generative AI, LLMs, retrieval and evaluation.
• Ability to collaborate with editors, data scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Translate business/editorial challenges into a concrete R&D product roadmap.
• Lead agile prototyping and validation of AI capabilities and tools.
• Ensure model accuracy, bias control and output safety in prototypes.
• Oversee handover of prototypes to production as part of BAU lifecycles.
• Prepare technical charters and evaluation frameworks for cross-team alignment.
• Foster a newsroom-paced delivery culture balancing speed with reliability.
• Define R&D metrics and KPIs to measure velocity and value.
