Job description

Music teacher - full-time permanent. Initially, this is a Stage 1 to Stage 3 focused role; however, a willingness to teach Stage 4 to Stage 6 will be a distinct advantage.

Music Teacher (Full Time)

Commencing January 2026

Focus on teaching and student performance

Macarthur is an independent Anglican co-educational Transition (Pre-Kindergarten) to Year 12 school with a strong academic and co-curricular focus, especially in Music, catering to students of all ability levels. It is located in picturesque Cobbitty on over 85 magnificent acres, 50 minutes from the CBDs of Sydney and Wollongong.

The Headmaster seeks to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Christian educator to this full-time permanent position within the highly professional, dynamic, and industrious Faculty of Music and Performing Arts.

Candidates for this role will be required to demonstrate:

  • a passion for teaching and performing or composing music;
  • a deep knowledge of the music syllabus documents across the Stages;
  • a desire to engage with the provision and oversight of music in Chapels and Worship Services;
  • a strong commitment to the extensive Music co-curricular and performance programmes;
  • an innovative approach to teaching and learning;
  • an understanding of and commitment to student well-being;
  • well-developed written, oral and organisational skills;
  • a comprehensive understanding of classroom differentiation;
  • a commitment to detailed and timely feedback to students; and,
  • a deep understanding of how students think and learn.

The successful candidate must also demonstrate innovative use of ICT in teaching and learning, proficiency in writing teaching programmes, and an understanding of best practices in student assessment and feedback. Attending overnight Outdoor Education camps is an essential element of teaching at Macarthur.
