Job summary

Western Diagnostic Pathology is hiring a Scientist - Multi Skilled (Max Term) to join our Mandurah laboratory. The role involves receiving and processing specimens, operating a range of analysers, performing rapid GeneXpert PCR, and conducting seminal analysis and STAT microscopy.

You will monitor QC, engage in surveys and coordinate with hospital staff. The ideal candidate has a science degree, solid QC/troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent in medical laboratory science.
• Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the discipline.
• Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting.
• Ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities per accreditation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to quality and excellence.
• Willingness to follow departmental policies and procedures.
• Positive, collaborative team member with strong communication.
• Evidence of immunisation including Hepatitis B.

Responsibilities

• Specimen receipt and processing.
• Use and maintenance of analysers listed above.
• Rapid PCR on the GeneXpert.
• Perform seminal analysis.
• Perform STAT microscopy.
• QC monitoring and reporting.
• Participate in internal/external surveys.
• Liaise between departments and external customers.
