Job summary

MJ Mahon Transport seeks an experienced MC Driver to transport perishable goods in refrigerated trucks across QLD/NSW. You will maintain cold chain integrity and ensure safe, compliant operations during long-distance runs.

Roster is 4 on / 4 off with night work for deliveries near Grafton and Armidale, offering potential extra shifts and overtime opportunities for a reliable team member.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid MC driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
• Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) accreditation required or to be obtained.
• Proven experience in refrigerated transport and freight handling.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate refrigerated multi/ heavy combination vehicles and secure loads.
• Maintain temperature control to protect perishable goods.
• Complete accurate logs, comply with road safety rules and weight limits.
• Load/unload perishable goods and communicate with clients professionally.
• Report vehicle defects and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed.
• Contribute to a safe working environment and follow safety training.

Position Summary

We are seeking skilled and dedicated Multi Combination (MC) Driver to join our team. As an MC Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of perishable goods using refrigerated trucks. This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining the cold chain, adhering to road transport laws, and delivering exceptional service to our clients.

Roster

4 on / 4 off - maximum 14hr shifts

Night work – Grafton and Armidale deliveries despatching at 7pm

Note: Opportunity for extra shifts

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Operation: Safely operate multi-combination and heavy combination refrigerated vehicles, conduct inspections, and secure loads appropriately.

Temperature Control: Monitor and maintain the temperature within the refrigerated unit to ensure the integrity of perishable goods.

Compliance: Adhere to road safety regulations, maintain accurate logbooks, and ensure compliance with weight restrictions and freight handling guidelines.

Freight Handling: Load, unload, and verify the accuracy of perishable goods, ensuring proper securing of loads.

Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients and customers, providing excellent service and representing the company professionally.

Maintenance: Report vehicle defects, perform minor maintenance tasks, and maintain cleanliness of vehicles and equipment.

Safety: Follow all health and safety regulations, participate in safety training, and ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications and Skills

Licensing: Valid Multi Combination (MC) driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Accreditation: Basic Fatigue Management (BFM)

Experience: Proven experience as an MC driver, preferably in refrigerated transport, with knowledge of regulations and best practices.

Skills: Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, excellent time management, organizational skills, and physical fitness for manual tasks.

Working Conditions

Hours: Varied hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and public holidays. Long-distance travel and extended periods away from home may be required.

Environment: Exposure to various weather conditions, interaction with clients, and work within refrigerated environments.
