  • Structured MST training & clinical supervision – build your expertise with ongoing professional development and career growth

  • Flexible work-from-home options – enjoy autonomy while remaining connected to a supportive clinical team

  • Flexible working hours – including some evening work to engage families when support is most effective

Join one of the most rigorously researched family-based intervention models, with demonstrated outcomes in reducing youth offending, strengthening family functioning and supporting young people to remain safely at home.

About the Role

As an MST Clinician, you’ll work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team to provide intensive, evidence-based clinical intervention to a small caseload of young people aged 11–17 years who present with offending behaviours and varying levels of youth justice involvement, together with their families.

Working under the guidance of a Clinical Supervisor, you’ll provide predominantly in-home and community-based clinical services, working closely with young people, caregivers, families and other key supports to address the factors contributing to offending behaviour.

Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an empirically based, internationally recognised treatment model developed through more than 30 years of applied research.

MST takes a whole-of-family and systems-based approach, addressing the factors that influence a young person’s behaviour across individual, family, peer, school/vocational and community environments.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified health professional who is passionate about youth justice and wants to use an evidence-based approach to create real and lasting change for young people and their families.

Through the MST model, you’ll develop and implement comprehensive, systemic intervention plans while working intensively with families to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Who Thrives in This Role?

This role suits clinicians who:

  • Enjoy working intensively with families experiencing complex challenges.

  • Are confident, engaging young people and families who may be hesitant or resistant to services.

  • Want to see measurable outcomes and meaningful change through their clinical work.

  • Value accountability, reflection, feedback and ongoing professional growth.

  • Prefer a flexible and autonomous role while being supported by a close-knit clinical team.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include
  • Delivering high-quality clinical services to a targeted caseload of young people and their families, including assessment, case conceptualisation, treatment planning and intervention.

  • Implementing the MST intervention model through intensive contact with young people, caregivers and families.

  • Working collaboratively with families and relevant community agencies to identify and address barriers to positive outcomes.

  • Developing and delivering individualised, evidence-based interventions across family, caregiver, peer, school and community systems.

  • Providing flexible clinical support, including evening work where required, to best meet the needs of families.

  • Building strong therapeutic relationships and engaging families who may have experienced difficulty engaging with services previously.

  • Participating in a shared on-call roster, supported by your Clinical Supervisor and team, helping ensure families can access assistance when it matters most.

This is a Full-Time Permanent position, based at our Springwood office, with flexibility to work from home.

Skills & Experience

We’re looking for a clinician who is passionate about working with young people and families and is comfortable working intensively within complex environments.

You will bring:

  • A Masters qualification in Psychology or Social Work is preferred.

  • Minimum requirement of a 4-year degree in Social Work or Psychology. Degrees in related fields such as counselling or family/systems therapy will be considered alongside relevant experience.

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional organisation/s (e.g. AASW or Psychology Board of Australia).

  • A current Class C Driver Licence.

  • Knowledge and/or expertise in family/caregiver systems theory, behavioural and cognitive-behavioural therapies and their application to young people with offending behaviours.

  • Relevant experience working with marginalised, minority and/or difficult-to-engage young people and their families.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver evidence-based interventions with individuals, families and broader systems.

  • Flexibility, resilience and a commitment to working intensively with families, including after hours when required.
