Job summary

Hamer Offroad is seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join our NSW workshop team. The role focuses on inspection, diagnosis, servicing and repair of 4WD, SUV and utility vehicles with emphasis on quality workmanship and safety.

• Two or more years of relevant automotive experience with motor mechanics.
• Strong knowledge of engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes and drivetrains.
• Experience working with 4WD, SUV or utility vehicles is highly regarded.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults promptly.
• Must hold a current driver’s licence.

Motor Mechanic (4WD and Off-Road Vehicles)

Our workshop provides mechanical servicing and repairs together with professional installation of premium aftermarket 4WD components and accessories.

Due to continued business demand, we are seeking an experienced and qualified Motor Mechanic to join our automotive workshop team in the New South Wales branch (location: Unit 1/70 Southwell Road, Oran Park, NSW 2570).

About the Role:

This is a full-time Motor Mechanic position with primary responsibility for the inspection, diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, particularly 4WD, SUV and utility vehicles.

Inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in 4WD, SUV and utility vehicles.

Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, braking, steering, suspension, cooling and drivetrain systems.

Use computer diagnostic scanners and testing equipment to identify vehicle faults.

Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, oil and fluid changes in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Repair, replace and adjust worn or defective mechanical and electrical components.

Inspect and repair suspension, steering, braking, wheel bearing, axle and differential components.

Conduct post-repair testing and road tests to ensure vehicles operate safely and correctly.

Maintain accurate service and repair records and ensure all work meets workshop and safety standards

Fit approved 4WD accessories and aftermarket components, including bull bars, side steps, underbody protection, winches, tow bars and roof racks.

Install suspension components, wheels, tyres, exhaust components and other approved 4WD grades.

Install and connect driving lights, light bars, cameras, winches and other automotive electrical accessories.

Verify compatibility of aftermarket components with the vehicle make, model and specifications before installation.

Carry out required mechanical adjustments and post-installation safety and functional checks.

Ensure all installations comply with manufacturer instructions, applicable vehicle standards and workshop procedures.

About You:

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

At least two (2) years of relevant experience and/or relevant qualification in Automotive Mechanical Technology, Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Motor Mechanics, or an equivalent automotive trade qualification

Relevant practical experience as a Motor Mechanic or similar automotive mechanical position

Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems, including engines, suspension, steering, braking and drivetrains

Experience working with 4WD, SUV or utility vehicles is highly regarded

Ability to think on how to solve issues and create solutions promptly

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Efficient work ethic to finish tasks within the expected period

Willingness to learn, improve and grow in the role

Must hold current driver's licence

Remuneration:

This is subject to your skills, qualifications and experience, but it will be within a salary range of between $75,000 - $95,000 per annum + superannuation.
