The Tyre Factory Superstore Ravenhall is seeking a qualified motor mechanic (general) for a permanent full-time role in Melbourne. You will perform scheduled logbook servicing, fault diagnosis, powertrain maintenance, and component overhauls across passenger and light commercial vehicles.

You will use computerised diagnostic tools, dismantle assemblies, replace worn parts, conduct preventative maintenance, and complete road tests and safety inspections to deliver roadworthy vehicles.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III or IV with on-the-job training.
• 1–2 years post-qualification workshop experience.
• Manual driver’s licence; ability to work in safety-critical environments.
• English proficiency for clear safety communication.

Responsabilités

• Detects and diagnoses mechanical and electrical faults in petrol engines, fuel injection systems, transmissions, and suspension using computerised diagnostic scan tools.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and drive components; inspect parts for wear and measure clearances.
• Repair, overhaul, and replace worn/defective components (clutches, brakes, timing chains, cylinder heads, gearboxes) and reassemble to factory specifications.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and engine tune-ups to achieve smooth operation and compliance with pollution and road safety regulations.
• Perform post-repair road testing, verify mechanical adjustments, and calibrate steering/suspension geometry.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and compile technical reports for roadworthiness certifications.

About Us

The Tyre Factory is an automotive mechanical service and repair centre dedicated to technical precision, safety, and customer satisfaction. Our facility features modern vehicle hoists, computerised diagnostic scan suites, and specialised repair machinery. We are seeking a qualified and experienced motor mechanic (general) to join our workshop on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

You will perform scheduled logbook servicing, advanced electronic fault diagnosis, powertrain maintenance, and mechanical component overhauls across a diverse range of passenger and light commercial vehicles.

Key Duties

• Detects and diagnoses mechanical and electrical faults in petrol engines, fuel injection systems, transmissions, and suspension using computerised diagnostic scan tools.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and drive components; inspect parts for wear and measure clearances.
• Repair, overhaul, and replace worn/defective components (clutches, brakes, timing chains, cylinder heads, gearboxes) and reassemble to factory specifications.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and engine tune-ups to achieve smooth operation and ensure compliance with pollution and road safety regulations.
• Perform post-repair road testing, verify mechanical adjustments, and calibrate steering/suspension geometry.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and compile technical reports for roadworthiness certifications.

Requirements

• AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant post-qualification workshop experience.
• Valid Driver’s Licence (manual capability required).
• Strong technical communication skills and dedication to workshop Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S).
• English language proficiency, suitable for clear communication in safety-critical team environments and immigration compliance requirements.

Remuneration & Benefits

• Guaranteed Base Salary: $79,500 per annum + 12% Superannuation.
• Permanent full-time employment (38 hours per week) with statutory leave entitlements.
