Job summary

AP Smash Repair in Derrimut, VIC is seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join their automotive workshop. You will deliver diagnostic, repair and maintenance services across a range of vehicles, ensuring work meets technical specs, safety standards and customer requirements.

This is a full-time position with an annual salary of AU$80,000 plus superannuation.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification.
  • Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis and/or Diploma of Automotive Technology highly regarded.
  • At least a year of motor mechanical experience in a commercial workshop setting.
  • At least a year experience diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults across vehicle systems.
  • Minimum a year using OBD-II diagnostic tools, workshop equipment and vehicle service information.
  • Minimum a year experience performing servicing, maintenance, and repair of engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
  • Must have at least a year experience working with Asian and European car vehicles.
  • Must have at least a year motor mechanical experience with AWDs, 4WDs,
  • Must have at least a year experience with Hybrid vehicles.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and repair documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Good understanding of workplace safety procedures and automotive compliance standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload in a workshop environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to liaise with team members and customers.
  • Valid Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and technical procedures
  • Inspect vehicles and assess system performance across engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, and braking systems
  • Perform servicing and maintenance tasks including oil changes, brake servicing, and system adjustments
  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble engine components, transmissions, and associated mechanical systems
  • Replace defective parts and components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and repair standards
  • Conduct testing and verification of repairs to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance
  • Interpret technical manuals, service documentation, and repair guides to support accurate diagnostics and repairs
  • Maintain records of servicing, repairs, and parts usage in line with workshop and compliance requirements
  • Identify additional faults or service requirements and communicate findings to supervisors or customers
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with workplace safety procedures and automotive standards
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and operational condition
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of jobs

They are seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join their team in Derrimut, VIC.


The Role

The Motor Mechanic is responsible for delivering diagnostic, repair, and maintenance services across a range of vehicles, ensuring all work meets technical specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.
