Sims Limited is hiring multiple Yard Operators at Rocklea Recycling Yard, Rocklea, QLD. You will operate forklifts, excavators, and other mobile plant to sort, process and dispatch recyclable metals, while maintaining safety and efficiency on site.

This hands-on role emphasizes customer service, adherence to safety standards, and teamwork to support a fast-paced yard operation. Training, competitive pay with overtime, and career progression are offered.

Qualifications

• Current Forklift Licence with practical operating experience.
• Experience operating excavators or other heavy mobile plant.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
• Reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated attitude.
• Good communication skills and customer-focused approach.
• Experience within the recycling, scrap metal, waste, or resource recovery industries is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Operating forklifts, excavators, and other mobile plant equipment safely and effectively.
• Loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and skip bins.
• Sorting, grading, and processing ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Receiving, processing, and dispatching recyclable materials.
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
• Following all workplace health, safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
• Identifying hazards and contributing to a strong safety culture.
• Assisting with general yard duties and operational activities as required.
• Providing professional and friendly service to customers, suppliers, and transport operators.
