Job summary

BHP's Olympic Dam site in South Australia is seeking a Trade Assistant to support the Mobile Fleet Maintenance team on a 7/7 day/night roster. The role offers residential, FIFO from Adelaide or DIDO options, with safety-first expectations and a strong team culture on Copper SA assets.

As part of the team you will work with trade professionals, follow standards, and help maintain plant reliability by timely maintenance support, accurate work scopes, and constructive feedback to supervision.

Qualifications

• Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way.
• Previous experience working in a similar Trades Assistant role or another highly transferrable hands‑on role within mining.
• Riggers, doggers and crane tickets are advantageous.
• 1SAP basic user capabilities desired.
• Proven ability to demonstrate appropriate HSEC behaviours.
• Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines.
• Current, valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day.
• Provide trade assistance skills to support planned, unplanned or breakdown maintenance
• Develop close working relationships with Mine personnel to ensure that all plant downtime issues are escalated correctly and rectified immediately
• Provide continual feedback to the Shift Maintenance Supervisors on job progress
• Execute activities according to the weekly work schedule and unscheduled work as required
• Update events and work requests with an accurate scope of work, to support effective planning of work
• Provide input to the Maintenance Analysis & Improvement (A&I) sub-function for engineering modifications needed for plant and equipment
• Provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor on improvement opportunities
• Build cross-functional relationships with the range of Operational areas to support maintenance
• Comply with the 1SAP Work Management processes related to work identification, execution and the capturing of related historical transactional data into 1SAP
• Provide input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of action items affecting equipment reliability
