Job summary

Opus Recruitment Solutions Limited in Melbourne seeks an experienced Senior MLOps Data Engineer to design and operate scalable ML/data platforms using Databricks, FastAPI, and AWS.

You will build and support recommendation and personalisation systems, deploy ML pipelines end-to-end, and implement IaC with Terraform and AWS services. This is a hybrid role with an initial 6-month contract and a daily rate in AUS dollars.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, MLOps Engineering, or Machine Learning Platform Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows, and ML capabilities
• Proven expertise developing scalable data and machine learning pipelines using FastAPI
• Strong experience with AWS, including services such as S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, SageMaker, Glue, or equivalent
• Commercial experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tooling
• Experienced deploying, monitoring, and maintaining machine learning models in production environments
• Exposure to building or supporting recommendation engines, personalisation platforms, ranking models, or customer analytics solutions

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining scalable ML and data platforms using Databricks, FastAPI, and AWS
• Building and supporting recommendation and personalisation systems that drive business outcomes
• Developing and operationalising machine learning pipelines, from data ingestion through model deployment and monitoring
• Implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and AWS-native services
• Collaborating with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Engineers, and Architects to deploy and manage production-grade AI solutions
• Establishing ML monitoring, observability, governance, and model performance frameworks
• Optimising data pipelines and feature engineering processes to support scalable ML use cases
