Job summary

TikTok is seeking an Algorithm Engineer Project Intern for the 2027 start in Sydney, Australia. You will join the TikTok Global LIVE R&D team, tackling machine learning and algorithmic challenges for live revenue, gifting, and user experience at a massive scale.

The internship offers hands-on experience with state-of-the-art models and end-to-end deployment, collaborating with product and operations to shape long-term algorithm strategies.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Solid knowledge in at least one of: machine learning, deep learning, LLM, agent, causal inference.
• Familiar with at least one data-centric domain: recommendation, generation, A/B testing.
• Great communication and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize ML systems that support global LIVE activities.
• Analyze activity data, develop models and data-driven strategies to boost engagement and growth.
• Design, train, and deploy scalable models for recommendation, ranking, targeting, and performance optimization.
• Understand business objectives and collaborate with product and operations to define long-term algorithm strategies.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to improve model performance and experimentation efficiency.
