Job summary

WSP is seeking a Study & Design Manager in Newcastle to lead planning, coordination and delivery of multidisciplinary mining projects. The ideal candidate is an engineer with a strong mechanical background who has broadened experience across disciplines and project phases, delivering practical solutions from concept to detailed design.

You’ll lead teams, drive studies, and work closely with clients to ensure quality, safety and value in every project stage within Australia’s mining sector.

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience delivering mining, minerals processing or heavy industrial projects.
• Strong technical grounding in mechanical engineering, with exposure to civil, piping or process infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary studies and engineering teams.
• Experience across concept studies, feasibility studies, FEED and detailed design.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering studies and design projects.
• Coordinate technical teams across mechanical, process, civil, structural and electrical disciplines.
• Manage project scope, budget, schedule and deliverables.
• Facilitate study workshops, risk reviews and value engineering activities.
• Drive project execution from concept through prefeasibility to detailed design.
• Build and maintain relationships with mining clients and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams.
• Support business development activities and identify opportunities for project growth.
• Ensure quality, safety and technical excellence across project delivery.
