Job summary

Glencore via United Wambo Joint Venture is seeking an experienced Heavy Mobile Plant Technician to maintain and repair on-site equipment in the Hunter Valley. You will handle planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs across a diverse mining fleet while coaching apprentices and upholding safety standards.

Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor, you will work with Planning, Reliability and Operations to improve equipment availability and reduce downtime.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (AUR31220) or equivalent recognised mechanical trade qualification.
• Open cut maintenance experience across haul trucks, excavators or ancillary equipment.
• Exposure to Caterpillar, Komatsu or Liebherr heavy mining equipment (desirable).
• Strong commitment to risk management, critical controls and safe work practices.
• Solid diagnostic and fault-finding ability with pride in repair quality.
• Clear communication, reliable teamwork and ability to work independently.
• Practical improvement mindset and willingness to challenge ineffective ways of working.

Responsibilities

• Complete planned and unplanned maintenance to safety, quality and technical standards.
• Diagnose equipment faults, perform effective repairs and provide clear handovers/records.
• Identify repeat defects and contribute ideas to improve reliability and uptime.
• Collaborate with supervisors, planners, reliability personnel, operators and service providers.
• Support apprentices with coaching, feedback and safe task guidance.
• Apply risk controls and stop work when conditions change.
