Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related field.

• Solid understanding of production sequencing, development requirements and underground mining methods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain and continually improve the mine plans and schedules behind production and development targets.
• Translate Life-of-Mine and long-term planning strategies into medium-term mining sequences.
• Optimize each sequence for stope extraction, development timing, ventilation availability and infrastructure readiness.
• Ensure medium-term sequences can be carried through into short-term plans.

Job description

An established underground mining operation in Queensland is recruiting a permanent engineer for medium term planning, someone who can keep a complex extraction sequence workable across several operating fronts.

What the employer needs most is a plan that holds together. Production readiness, ventilation, backfill, stoping, infrastructure, services and development all interact at this zinc-lead-silver mine, and with a long mine life the schedule has to stand up for years. The engineer appointed will create, maintain and keep improving the plans that deliver production and development targets.

The employer is open on location, offering a Brisbane base, a fly-in fly-out arrangement or residential living at the mine. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates.

• Prepare, maintain and continually improve the mine plans and schedules behind production and development targets.
• Take Life-of-Mine and long-term planning strategies and turn them into practical medium-term mining sequences.
• Optimise each sequence for stope extraction, development timing, ventilation availability and infrastructure readiness.
• Make sure medium-term sequences can be carried through into short-term plans.

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, or in a related subject.
• Demonstrated underground hard rock mining experience.
• Exposure gained in mine planning, scheduling or technical services roles, preferably.
• Working experience with mine planning and design software (Surpac, Deswik or equivalent) applied to stope sequencing, schedule analysis and development planning.
• Solid understanding of production sequencing, development requirements and underground mining methods.
• The ability to read geotechnical, geological, operational and ventilation constraints and build them into practical mine plans.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including judging planning risks, identifying constraints and developing practical solutions.
