Job summary

Norton Gold Fields Limited is seeking an Open Pit Mine Surveyor to manage survey during mining operations at Binduli. You will measure volumes, peg mining areas, survey configurations, and locate blast holes, reporting to the Senior Surveyor.

Requirements include a minimum of 2 years’ mining survey experience and a WA Class C driver’s licence. Desirable skills include GPS, drone operation, and Trimble/Surpac proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of mining survey experience, preferably open-cut.

• Strong understanding of survey measurements, safety and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Control survey during mining operations and measure volumes.
• Maintain survey equipment per Senior Surveyor directions.
• Install surface survey control network for accurate measurements.
• Conduct drilling and blasting surveys for safety and accuracy.
• Survey pit and waste dumps to design specifications.
• Mark-up ore, geological and geotechnical structures and stockpiles.
• Perform exploration and grade control surveys and other assigned tasks.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As an Open Pit Mine Surveyor at Norton Gold Fields, you will control the survey during mining operations. Duties included measuring the total volume of material moved and quantities of material blasted, pegging mining areas, surveying mining configuration, and locating blast and explosive holes.

• Support daily tasks under the Senior Surveyor’s guidance, ensuring efficient survey function in the open pit environment.
• Maintain survey equipment to prescribed standards directed by the Senior Surveyor.
• Install and maintain a surface survey control network for accurate measurements.
• Conduct surveys related to drilling and blasting operations for safety and accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to design specifications by surveying pit and waste dump areas using various markers and instruments.
• Perform mark-ups for ore, geological, and geotechnical structures, as well as end-of-month volumes, stockpile surveys, prism monitoring, water levels, and infrastructure surveys.
• Undertake exploration and grade control surveys, along with any other tasks as assigned.

ABOUT YOU

• At least 2 years of survey experience in mining, preferably in a metalliferous Open-Cut environment (Essential).
• Current, unrestricted Western Australian Class “C” Driver’s Licence (Essential).
• Good understanding of total station, GPS and drone operation (Desirable).
• Proficiency with Trimble survey equipment and Surpac survey software (Desirable).
• Grade II Authorisation or be in the process of obtaining this qualification or other relevant tertiary for Mine Surveyor (Desirable).
• RePL up to 25kg (Desirable).
