Job summary

Synergie Australia is seeking an experienced MIG Welder and Pile Cage Machine Operator for a busy Western Sydney manufacturing site. You will operate a pile bar/cage machine, perform MIG welding, and assist in keeping production moving safely across day, afternoon, and night shifts.

Essentially you should have MIG welding experience, the ability to use basic computer controls, and a good grasp of bar sizes and machine settings.

Pile Cage Machine Operator / MIG Welder

Location: Western Sydney
Shifts: Day | Afternoon | Night | 7-day operation
Pay: $50/hr + super Monday–Saturday | $100/hr Sundays & overtime

We’re looking for an experienced MIG Welder / Pile Cage Machine Operator to join a busy manufacturing environment in Western Sydney.

This is a hands‑on production role where you’ll operate a specialised pile bar/cage machine, complete MIG welding and help keep production moving safely and efficiently across shifts.

If you have MIG welding experience and have worked with rebar, prefabrication, cages or pile machines, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Operating a pile bar/cage machine
• Using an overhead gantry crane to load rebar
• Setting cage diameters and entering bar sizes into the machine computer
• Hand-welding the first approximately 3 coils
• Monitoring the machine while it completes the cage cycle, which can take up to 2 hours
• Manually welding the finishing end of the cage
• Performing MIG welding throughout production – this is essential
• Completing light manual handling, including pulling wire/bar through the machine
• Following site safety procedures and maintaining a safe, productive work environment
• Working effectively across a 7-day production operation

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Proven MIG welding experience
• Ability to confidently use basic computer controls
• Good understanding of measurements, bar sizes and machine settings
• Strong safety awareness
• Reliable and willing to work across different shifts

Highly regarded:

• 2nd Class Welder background
• Experience operating a pile machine or cage machine
• Previous experience running a pile machine
• Gantry / overhead crane experience
• Rebar, steel fabrication or prefabrication experience

No forklift licence required.

Shifts

The site operates 7 days per week across:

• Day: 5:00am – 1:00pm
• Afternoon: 1:00pm – 9:00pm
• Night: 9:0pm – 5:00am

All successful candidates will initially commence on day shift for training and assessment.

Once you have demonstrated competency, you will transition to afternoon or night shift based on operational requirements.

Pay & Rostering

• Monday – Saturday: $50 per hourflat rate + super for the first 56 hours worked per week
• The $50/hr rate is a loaded rate inclusive of applicable shift penalties and allowances
• Sunday: $100 per hour for all hours worked
• Overtime: $100 per hour for hours worked over 56 hours in the weekly total

PPE Requirements

You will need to provide your own:

• Welding mask
• Hard hat
• Steel-cap boots
• Long-sleeve shirt
• Long trousers

Provided onsite:

• Safety glasses
• Ear plugs
