Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service in rural Queensland is seeking Clinical Midwives, Registered Midwives and Lactation Consultants to join our team and deliver continuity of care across antenatal, birthing, postnatal and home visiting services.

Positions include town-based and outreach settings with opportunities for professional development, generous leave, relocation support and 12.75% superannuation, plus travel benefits and leave entitlements.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary degree in Midwifery.
• Registration/licence as a Registered Midwife.
• Criminal History checks will be conducted.
• Vaccination/immunity for Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.

Responsibilities

• Deliver continuity of care and core midwifery services.
• Provide antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and home visiting support.
• Participate in staff development, mentoring and training.

Multiple permanent and temporary positions are now available across the North West. Opportunities include both town-based and outreach settings, delivering continuity of care as well as core midwifery services.
The North West Hospital Maternity Unit is the referral centre for all pregnant women in the region and for a small Northern Territory community. It provides care to women and their families within its Antenatal service, Antenatal/Postnatal Inpatient Unit, Birthing Unit, Special Care Nursery and Home Visiting program.

Requirements

• Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences as a Registered Midwife.
• Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
• This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
• A period of probation may apply.
