Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Product Development: Design, develop, and deploy solutions, working closely with engineers and product managers to deliver features to global customers.
  • Technical Expertise: Build and debug product features primarily in PHP/Laravel, with opportunities to work with other languages and environments.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Play a key role in managing AWS infrastructure, including environment configuration, deployment automation, and security best practices.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Facilitate knowledge sharing and advocate for engineering needs to non-technical team members.
  • Leadership and Innovation: Take initiative in achieving goals, improving processes, and identifying opportunities for cross-team collaboration.
  • Customer Support: Assist with escalations from customer onboarding and support teams, ensuring optimal user experience.
  • Agile Practices: Actively participate in agile ceremonies and code reviews, contributing to a collaborative development environment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong Technical Foundation: Robust computer science and software engineering fundamentals, with a passion for algorithms and performance.
  • Backend Expertise: Highly competent in backend development, with deep knowledge of PHP & Laravel.
  • Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS.
  • Versatile Skill Set: Comfortable working across both application and infrastructure layers of a product.
  • Solution-Oriented Mindset: Ability to identify solution options, weigh trade-offs, and propose scalable software architectures to solve business problems.
  • Effective Communication: Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to various audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excel at breaking large projects into manageable tasks and delivering through collaboration.
  • Relevant Experience: At least 5 years of commercial experience building software products.
  • Qualifications: Qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to provide a National Police Certificate or Working with Children Check.
