Job summary

Minor Hotels’ Avani Cypress Lakes Resort in the Hunter Valley is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager - MICE to drive corporate and events business growth. You will identify opportunities, build strategic client relationships, and secure group bookings across meetings, incentives, conferences, and events, while collaborating with hotel operations to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

You will lead proactive sales activity, manage key accounts, and present compelling proposals

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hospitality sales, with a strong background in corporate and MICE markets.
• A successful track record of generating new business and growing client portfolios.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Strong understanding of the hotel, conference, and events industry.
• The ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies.
• Exceptional organisation, time management, and attention to detail.
• Experience managing sales pipelines and CRM systems.
• A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider resort team.
• A passion for delivering outstanding service and creating memorable client experiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sales strategies to increase corporate and MICE revenue for Avani Cypress Lakes Resort.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, industry events, and targeted sales activity.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and key industry partners.
• Manage and grow existing accounts to maximise repeat business and long-term partnerships.
• Conduct client meetings, site inspections, and familiarisation visits to showcase the resort’s accommodation, conference facilities, golf, and leisure offerings.
• Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and secure group bookings and events.
• Collaborate with operational teams including Events, Front Office, Reservations, and Revenue to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Maintain strong market knowledge, monitor competitor activity, and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales reporting, forecasts, and pipeline activity.
